Trullo San Rocco, Ceglie Messapica, Puglia

Trullo San Rocco lies just five minutes from Ceglie Messapica, one of Puglia’s most celebrated gastronomic destinations. Renowned for its exceptional restaurants and vibrant culinary scene, Ceglie is a paradise for food lovers seeking genuine Italian flavor and charm.

We fell in love with this corner of Puglia almost a decade ago, and it had long been our dream to restore a traditional trullo of our own. After three years of meticulous restoration, that dream has become a reality — and we couldn’t be more delighted with the result.

Surrounded by the timeless beauty of the Valle d’Itria, Trullo San Rocco is perfectly positioned for exploring some of Puglia’s most enchanting towns — Ostuni (15 minutes away), Cisternino, Alberobello, Locorotondo, Martina Franca, and the seaside gem Polignano a Mare, all within easy reach. Every weekend brings local antique and food markets, rich with regional character and charm.

The nearby coastline offers an array of stunning beaches, from secluded coves to stylish beach clubs with loungers and full service. A curated selection of our favorites can be found in the welcome pack, and we’re always happy to assist with reservations or recommendations.

Conveniently located 35 minutes from Brindisi Airport and just over an hour from Bari, Trullo San Rocco offers the perfect balance of tranquility, authenticity, and effortless access to all that Puglia has to offer.

The Area

Ceglie Messapica

is only a 4 minute drive away, and its been named the foody capital of Puglia for its abundance of restaurants! Apparently there are over 79 to choose from. Its a sweet little hillside town with a beautiful central square and lots of little windy streets off it. Be sure to visit the Chapel. Some of our favourite restaurants are:

Ostuni

Rising high above the vast olive-carpeted plateau of the lower Murgia, Ostuni has long been an awe-inspiring sight for those travelling across Puglia. Strong defensive walls and tumbling clusters of white-washed houses wind around the hillside, at the top of which, proudly surveying the surrounding land, sits the magnificent Gothic cathedral. Some of our favourite restuarants are:

Cisternino

Unassuming, unpretentious and extremely local, Cisternino is one of Puglia’s best-kept secrets. With a laid-back atmosphere, more locals than tourists and a siesta time that seems to last an eternity, Cisternino Puglia is the place to come for a truly authentic southern Italian experience.

Located high on a hill, looking out over the trulli-filled Valle d’Itria, the white town of Cisternino has plenty to keep you busy for an afternoon, with the beautiful, narrow, labyrinth streets of the historic centre, local tavernas serving up the best Puglian dishes and some sublime views, its the perfect town to slow down, take it easy and live like a local

The Beaches

There are a wide range of beaches that we recommend visiting. This one pictured, Torre Pozelle, is our favourite secret spot! In the summer it does get very busy but towards the end of August much quieter. The sea is incredible..

Once booked we’ll send you a PDF with 5 other beaches to visit, ranging from smart beach clubs coves like this one.
