Welcome!
We’re so glad you are staying at the Trullo. Below is some info on the house, shopping etc and also some of our favourite spots. If you have any urgent issues please contact Pietro on 0039 333 4344 206 (he can speak good English!) He will be there when you arrive and take you through everything. Arrival and leaving times
Please contact Pietro (message is fine) to arrange what time you will be there on your arrival so he can meet you at the house. Also if you could let him know your leaving times then he can arrange what needs to be done with the key (either he will meet you at the property or ask you to leave the key somewhere).Also if you’re running late if you could be so kind as to let him know that would be amazing.
Directions
If you put Trullo San Rocco, Ceglie Messapica into Google or Apple Maps the house should appear. Here is a direct link below also! Its about 4 minutes outside Ceglie Messapica, the turning is opposite the Fondazione San Raffaelle Hopsital, then at the fork follow the road round to the right, then take first left.Then down this lane for just under a minute, look out for a drive that is immediately after a modern looking house on the right. Our gate is just a metal swing gate (quite rusty looking).
Air conditioning, heating and fans.
The air conditioning in the 3 bedrooms in the back use the wall thermostat wall panels to control and the 2 trullo rooms use the built in units. Where possible please turn off in the day when not using it (see instructions below on how to).
Back 3 bedrooms
To adjust temperature press the + or – symbol.
To adjust fan speed press the middle fan icon. On the left hand side of the panel, if you see the fan lines rotating this means its on auto (ie when its showing 1 fan, 2 fans, 3 fans then back to 1 fan again). I’d leave it on 3 if you want it to cool down fastest.
If you also wouldn’t mind turning it off during the day or alternatively keep it on but keep all doors and windows closed (including shutters) this will keep it cool.
2 Trullo Rooms
To unlock press the up button for 3 seconds. It will automatically lock after 7 seconds
To make cooler press the up down button
To make warmer, the up button
To adjust fan press the set button. If you see it rotating it means its on auto..
Ceiling fans
Also to operate the ceiling fans in the two double bedrooms in the back please make sure you make sure the wall fan switch is on, which is on the same panel as the light switch. Once is this pressed you should be able to turn on the fan using the remote control.
The switch to turn the fan on. Make sure this is switched on for the fan
remote control to work.
Rubbish
The rubbish unfortunately needs to be taken to the dumps as there are no rubbish collections.
PLEASE NOTE YOU NOW CAN ONLY DROP THE BINS OFF AFTER 6PM OTHERWISE THERE IS A FINE! (ITS LITERALLY 2 MINUTES AWAY).
ALSO VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU COULD DROP YOUR RUBBISH OFF FROM THE HOUSE THE DAY BEFORE YOU LEAVE AFTER 6PM OR THE CLEANERS CHARGE 50 EUROS TO TAKE AWAY YOUR RUBBISH.
This is where our nearest rubbish bins are.The rubbish is separated into general, plastic and cardboard.

Keys
You should have 3 keys for the house. EACH DOOR IN THE HOUSE USES THE SAME KEY, EVEN THE KITCHEN DOOR. We normally leave one in the back door, and give one to the master bedroom with en-suite so when they wake up they can walk round to the kitchen without having to walk through the house.Then one for the front kitchen door (which we normally leave in a hiding place when we leave so others can use if they get back first).
Linen
There is additional duvets, blankets and towels should you require.Any spillages or stains on any of the cushions or quilts, we would appreciate it if you popped them in the washing machine or just let Pietro know at the end of the stay.
Wifi
The wifi is Trullo San Rocco (which is for the outside) and Trullo San Rocco Inside, for the inside.The password is rocco2020.There are 2 extenders, one in the trullo double bedroom and the other one in the master en suite bedroom.The wifi network should be extended automatically, ie you don’t have to change network. Any wifi issues please let us know asap and we will do our best to resolve the issue.
Projector
We have a projector which you can use to watch tv / movies! You’ll need to pull down the projector screen above the bread oven in the kitchen. It’s kept in the bottom right of the kitchen dresser. If you plug it in and turn it on with the remote you can browse Netflix / amazon and other apps.
Water
The water from the tap and fridge comes from our artisan well.We are in the process of getting the water tested, so currently we recommend to drink bottled water. It’s best to buy bulk from the supermarket (see below).
Fontanelle
Also to save on plastic we fill up the water from the local water fountains which are dotted around the countryside, supposedly they are from a spring! We find the water good to drink! But please note this is just us and we can’t guarantee its fresh! The best one is located here:
Lawn mower & sprinkler
We have a robot lawn mower, (called Herbie :)) which operates at 9pm-1am. Please make sure you clear the lawn before going to bed otherwise Herbie might run over stuff! Also a sprinkler system operates in the early morning so just be aware if any items of clothing are left out..
Bikes
We have one adult bike, one women’s bike and 3 kids bikes at the trullo. It’s great biking round near us as its a no-through road so very quiet! The bikes are kept in the pool room, if you ask Pietro and he will help get them out for you.
Walks
The boundary walk
The house is set amongst 7 acres, its a beautiful walk around our boundary, please see pic below! There fruit trees dotted around also 🙂
Walk down the lane
If you walk to the end of the drive then immediately turn right, this is a no-through road so its very quiet, and a beautiful walk down to the end (about 10
mins). Once you pass a field with old olive trees on your left, there are a couple of abandoned trullos on your right, which we sometimes walk around too..
Supermarket, food & drink
Please note that most shops close from 12-5 ! Then open from 5 to about 8pm..

Fruit / vegetable
There are lots dotted around Ceglie ! They are amazing… local and fresh produce..also you’ll find vans selling fruit on the edge of the road..

Wine
There is a sweet wine shop called Enoteca La Dolce Vite, on Via Francavilla.The owner is very helpful. On the same street is a little pharmacy, and then a man selling melons.
Butchers
The nearest butchers is called SalumiVenerito,and is onVia Roma.Ask for Bombetti which is a local speciality and delicious!
Bakery
There is a great bakery and deli called Forno San Lorenzo (it will come up if you put in into Google Maps) and next door is a great Mozeralla shop!

The main Square is called – Piazza Plebiscito

Parking for the square is just at the top of Via Roma. Its a short walk to the main square.. which is the highlight of Ceglie! The name is Piazza Plebiscito.There are lots of bars and restaurants off the square and a sweet little Gelateria.
